Fall Social at the Kalmia Clubhouse
Fall kickoff social event to meet and greet members, learn of upcoming
programs, receive your new yearbook, bring an appetizer, finger food to
share. Hosted by the Officers and Trustees. Co-chaired by Sherry Baker
and Mila Montemayor, Tekla Hallanan, Debbie Closson.

Behind the Scenes at PBS
For forty years, Thirteen/WNET New York has produced some of the most
beloved and memorable programs in television history. Paula Kerger, Vice
President and Station Manager, will give us an inside look behind the
scenes at what it takes to bring these wonderful stories to our television
screens. As the nation's flagship public television station, Thirteen/WNET
reaches millions of viewers each week with programs that entertain, enlighten
and educate. Ms. Kerger is responsible for managing the broadcast station,
as well as overseeing external and governmental relations. Under her stewardship,
the station has completed the largest endowment campaign ever undertaken
by a public television station.

Parkside Orchid Nursery in Ottsville, PA is committed to providing the
highest quality orchid plants, the support services necessary to assist
the "orchidist" in successfully growing and enjoying their plants,
and ongoing educational programs to enhance understanding and knowledge
about orchids, their culture and conservation. Tom Purviance and John
Salventi have been seriously involved in the orchid industry for more
than twelve years. Tom and John will have orchids for sale at the meeting.

A sextet from the New Hope Solebury Chamber Choir will bring Yuletide
cheer to our holiday party.
January 13, 2003
Our own Marueen Ammarati will coordinate a book discussion. The following
selections will be reviewed: Lazy B by Sandra Day OConnor,
Object Lessons by Anna Quindlen, The Long Loneliness by
Dorothy Day and Excellent Women by Barbara Pym.

The Annual Juried Art Show at the Coryell Gallery
**Please note: This meeting will be held at the Coryell Gallery**
It is a real treat to view this exhibition without the crowd. Some of
Pennsylvania and New Jersey's best art is shown at Janet Hunts gallery.
Come and satisfy your inner soul!
Due to inclement weather, this program was canceled.
However, Coryell Gallery has invited the Kalmia Club to a Wine and Cheese

Sally Stang of the Copper Penny Singing Group
Sally Stang of Lambertville has performed in several concerts including
musical revues at Odette's Restaurant. She is a member of the Copper Penny
singing group. Along with her musical colleagues, Sally has put together
a surprise musical revue for members of the Kalmia Club.

Holly Black, Writing and Publishing
This young author's first book is being published by Simon & Shuster
and will be launched in October, 2002. She will share her childhood experiences
of growing up in New Jersey which led her to the inspiration of the folklore
in her novel, Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale. She will discuss writing
the book, the road to acceptance, and what it takes to get from manuscript
to finished product.

Roses in the Landscape, Dave Thomson of Longwood Gardens
speaker Dave Thomson, Director of Volunteer Services at Longwood in Kennett
Square, Pa. with Kalmia's Hidden Garden Tour Chairperson, Sara Burns,
chat about gardening after his presentation on Monday, May 19th at the
Kalmia Club. Mr. Thomson's talk was on Roses in the Landscape and in which
he shared with members the three secrets to successful rose care was,
"hardwork, that is applied on a regular basis and luck". He
told members,in his opening lines, that gardening was "an annual
repetition of mundane tasks". Mr. Thomson was a charming, informative
lecturer and supplied members with lots of other helpful hints to successful
