An Evening of Poetry with Bucks County Poet Laureate Lynn Levin

Program Chair: Sue Fox
Ms. Levin is a poet, translator and teacher. Her seven books include the poetry collection Miss Plastique and a translation from the Spanish, Birds on the Kiswar Tree by Odi Gonzales. She co-authored the documentary Life on the Napo River: A Glimpse of the Ecuadoran Amazon, Its People and Their Traditions. Additionally, Ms. Levin poems have been published in Ploughshares, Boulevard, The Hopkins Review, Rattle, and many other venues. Tonight she will read poems from her many collections as well as answer questions from the audience.
The Joys and Challenges of Being a Chaplain/Flo Friedman Hurwitz

People often ask Chaplain Hurwitz why she choose a career centering around patients and families at their most vulnerable times. Her answer? “There are so many unexpected sacred moments.” After serving in the clergy for over 25 years, Ms. Hurwitz retired to Lambertville. In her retirement, she works as a part-time chaplain and volunteers at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Flo will share her chaplaincy journey through stores, music and discussion.

Owl Species of Hunterdon County

Tom Sheppard has been the Chief Park Naturalist Hunterdon County for 20 years. He is a self described “bird nerd” who has travelled the country to see different species of birds. He has notched approximately 730 species on his life list. Tonights program will cover the traits of eight owl species of the county and how they live. A mount of an owl and other props will be available for viewing. For our listening pleasure Mr. Sheppard will also mimic some of the calls of the owls.

Ms. Dougherty is one of the nation’s leading authorities on psychic experiences. For more than 20 years she has acted as a communication bridge between the living and the departed. Additionally, Ms. Dougherty has helped tens of thousands of people understand their past, future — and the spirit world. She may even offer information to guests in the audience. Exciting!

Ms. O’Neil is a South Hunterdon and Penn State graduate with more than 25 years experience as a sports writer. She has covered the Final Four, the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Finals an NHL playoffs. She is currently a senior writer for The Athletic, an on-line sports website.
