The Kalmia Club is an organization of women whose mission is to enhance personal growth and friendship through social, educational, cultural and civic programs; improve the community through effective volunteer action; and maintain, restore and preserve the historic Kalmia Clubhouse and the archives of the club. Through the actions of its members, Kalmia Club strengthens itself and local communities by embracing diverse perspectives, building partnerships and inspiring shared solutions.

Our vision statement is “Women empowering women through personal growth, friendship, volunteerism and service.”  Our theme is "Unity in Diversity.”. Our club flower is the Kalmia latifolia (mountain laurel) and the club colors are pink and green.

Federation Membership

NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs

The Kalmia Club is a member of the College District of the New Jersey State Federation of Women's Clubs (NJSFWC), the largest volunteer women's service organization in the state. The NJSFWC provides opportunities for education, leadership training and community service through participation in local clubs, enabling members to make a difference in the lives of others, one project at a time. There are approximately 6,000 members in 165 clubs located throughout New Jersey.

General Federation of Women’s Clubs

Through the NJSFWC, the Kalmia Club is also a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC). With more than 60,000 members in 2,600 affiliated clubs in every state, the District of Columbia, and more than a dozen countries, GFWC members work in their own communities to support the arts, preserve natural resources, advance education, promote healthy lifestyles, encourage civic involvement, and work toward world peace and understanding.

History of the Kalmia Club

In 1892, a group of women came together in Lambertville NJ with a shared interest in reading and intellectual pursuits. Their gatherings would eventually become the Kalmia Club….

  • Maintains and cares for the upkeep and organization of the clubhouse and the grounds. Recommends repairs to the Executive Committee and obtains estimates, as needed. Maintaining the historical integrity of the clubhouse is part of Kalmia’s mission.

  • Runs the annual Girls Career Institute program. Organizes an annual blood drive in conjunction with the Red Cross. Collects donations and leads efforts for local outreach.
