Frequently Asked Questions
-
The Kalmia Club is an organization of women whose mission is to enhance personal growth and friendship through social, educational, cultural and civic programs; improve the community through effective volunteer action and maintain, restore, and preserve the historic Kalmia clubhouse and archives of the club.

Whether you are new to the Lambertville area, or a long-time resident, we welcome any woman who is interested in embracing diverse perspectives, building partnerships and inspiring shared solutions. Our members include professional women, stay-at-home moms, artists, writers and retired women with a variety of backgrounds. Membership is not restricted to any particular city. Annual dues are required.
-
Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 6:30 pm (unless otherwise noted) at the Kalmia Clubhouse (39 York Street). These meetings include refreshments, time to socialize, a business meeting, and a guest speaker presentation.
Our September, December and June meetings are solely social in nature. No meetings are held in July and August.
-
Yes! Perhaps you are curious but not ready to commit. All women are welcome to attend one of our monthly meetings as a visitor. Please contact us at kalmiaclub@gmail.com for more information, or come to one of our monthly meetings and let our greeter know that you are visiting.
-
Access to the monthly Kalmia Club Newsletter is a benefit of membership. If you are considering joining and would like to sample a recent newsletter, please write to kalmiaclub@gmail.com and we will forward you a copy.
-
Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. There will be greeters at each meeting who will check you in, give you a nametag and introduce you to various members of the club. There will be a New Member Social outside of regularly scheduled meetings and new member orientation will be held at the clubhouse quarterly.
Once you are acclimated, joining a committee is a great way to make new friends and feel a part of the club.
-
New members are encouraged to attend meetings and participate in some capacity within the organization. A great way to meet members with shared interests is to join a Kalmia Cluster… or two. Clusters are small interest groups who meet outside of regular meetings. Examples include Book Club, Game Night, Garden Trips, or Group Walks.
Being part of a committee is also a great way to contribute your time and talents. We are an all-volunteer organization and are only as strong as our participants. While being a committee member is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged. Additional information about our committees can be found here.
The annual Hidden Gardens Tour is our largest fundraiser and requires a lot of input and participation from members. Whether you offer your garden as part of the tour, act as a docent, help promote the event, secure ads for the program, or help with the gardeners appreciation party, there is something available for everyone’s comfort level and time commitment.
-
We do not prorate dues. The membership fee is a flat tax-deductible donation regardless of when you join. Your dues not only help support the Kalmia Club, but a portion goes to the NJ State Federation of Women’s Clubs and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.
Dues paid after May 1st are applied to the following program year. The program year runs from September to June
